Obama and High Speed Internet

Republican or Democrat, Conservative or Liberal, we all have something to be happy about today. Obama has made the introduction of high speed internet to rural areas a top priority of his administration's work on economic stimulus.

As you all recall, the introduction of high speed net connections to the workplace transformed our world. That was followed by the laying of wire to millions of homes. Our hope is that this new wave of growth will bring with it the increased use of the Internet, and subsequent e-commerce transactions, necessary to boost both our industry and the economy as a whole.

Today we stand together and wish President Obama success.

Inefficient Processes Kill Projects and Companies

Imagine a world in which you couldn't speak directly with your Graphic Artist and you had to convey your ideas through a Project Manager. Then, the Project Manager, who certainly doesn't have the same passion for your business as you do, incorrectly conveys that message to the Graphic Artist. Let's just say, the first few drafts will definitely NOT be what you're looking for.

So... A couple of months pass by and FINALLY your Graphic Artist produces the work you're looking for. Cool, we're back on track right? Wrong-o!

Now you're passed off to the Programming Group where again, you do not get to speak directly with the person touching your project. Long story short... It's 8 months before you see a website that you're happy with. Nevermind that you were promised completion "within just a few months."

** FLASH **

SAVE YOURSELF MONTHS OF HASSLE, STRESS, and "EXTRA FEES". Go back in time and choose a company that encourages DIRECT CONTACT with your Graphic Artists and Programmers. Don't let your energy and motivation get lost in translation.

In-house vs. Proven Technology

Happy 2009 Everyone! We start out this new year in the midst of a global recession, but Ventura Web Design, our favorite Yahoo! Store Designer, remains optimistic that E-commerce will continue to be the wave of the future. With companies looking for ways to improve efficiency, reach their audience more effectively, and increase revenues while decreasing expenses... Is there any other way?

Jelly Belly recently redeveloped their own Ecommerce platform in Microsoft's .NET framework. See the article at Internet Retailer. To summarize, this is Jelly Belly's 4th in-house site. While they've chosen to do the work in-house due to the wholesale/retail aspects of their company, they did make a very smart decision in outsourcing their search to an expert in the field (SLI Systems).

The team over at Jelly Belly readily admits that they "could" build their own search, but it would rapidly become outdated.

This concept can be applied to most small businesses and even some larger ones. Why choose anything but the Yahoo! Store, if you're a small business doing standard retail/e-commerce, at levels of $30 million a year or less in revenue? There's no reason to put the energy into developing your own framework when the Yahoo! Store exists and can be customized for most business needs.

Contact Ventura today at 866-515-2057 for more details on how we can customize your Yahoo! Store to fit your specific needs.
